David Goyer is moving from Superman to a super … lizard.
The "Man of Steel" and "Batman Begins" screenwriter is tackling the screenplay for Legendary Pictures' upcoming "Godzilla," TheWrap has confirmed.
David Callaham, who wrote "The Expendables" and "Doom" had previously written a draft.
When Legendary attached director Gareth Edwards to the project this past January, it said that Edwards would revise Callaham's screenplay.
Goyer previously wrote the company's upcoming Superman film "Man of Steel," and the 2005 "Batman Begins." He has story credits on "The Dark Knight Rises" and on "The Dark Knight."
Warner Bros. is co-producing, co-financing and distributing "Godzilla." Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Dan Lin, Roy Lee and Brian Rogers.
Legendary has had the rights to "Godzilla" since March 2010, when it acquired them from Toho Film Co. of Japan.
Toho made the original 1954 "Gojira," known in the U.S. as "Godzilla."
