UTA has hired Maker Studios’ Sam Wick as an executive in its digital media department, the agency announced Tuesday. Wick will focus on building new businesses and opportunities for UTA and its diverse client roster.

Wick joins UTA from Maker Studios, a leader in short-form video and the largest content network on YouTube, where he served as executive VP and GM, Enterprise. In this position, Wick was responsible for the enterprise P&L, corporate and business development and strategic partnerships.

Prior to Maker Studios, Wick served as senior VP of marketing and programming for Myspace, where he oversaw the platform’s programming, editorial, marketing, music, entertainment, video and production departments. In addition, Wick has held positions at AOL, Mp3.com and Sony.

“When I met Sam I was immediately struck by his entrepreneurial spirit and background,” said UTA CEO Jeremy Zimmer. “Today, our clients are looking for entrepreneurial representation, and Sam will add greatly to our capabilities.”

“Sam is an experienced and respected executive who will be an incredible resource for the agency and its clients as we continue to build new businesses and partnerships around globally-recognized brands,” said UTA partner and head of digital media Brent Weinstein.

UTA has prioritized entrepreneurialism company-wide, successfully launching new businesses, including AwesomenessTV with client Brian Robbins; Keywords Press, the prolific publishing imprint formed by UTA and Simon & Schuster’s Atria publishing group; PreAct, the market-leading social media-based movie tracker in partnership with comScore, and more.
