"Mad Men" fans have until Sunday to purchase props and costumes from the hit show — including Don Draper's drapes. Proceeds from the eBay "Mad Men" auction benefit the medical research, treatment and training at the City of Hope cancer center.
The cast on the critically acclaimed retro ad agency drama moved offices at the end of season three when the Sterling Cooper agency was taken over and most of the show's key characters joined an upstart offshoot– Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. "Mad Men's" new digs left producers needing to get rid of the furniture used in the first three seasons. The charity auction began Aug. 12.
In addition to chairs, tables, couches and desks, featured items for bid include a walk-on role in season five and dresses seen on the show's leading ladies. Highlights include the bar where bon vivant Roger Sterling mixed his liquid lunches, the main reception desk and costumes worn by January Jones and Christina Hendricks. All of the lots in the "Mad Men" auction display the stylish '60s fashion sense that the series is famous for.
As of Monday morning, there were still plenty of items in the "Mad Men" charity auction that can be had for less than $100. Most expensive were Roger Sterling's coffee table, at $2,800, and the walk-on role, which had a $15,600 price tag. With six days of bidding left, expect all of those prices to climb.
Season four of "Mad Men" premiered July 25. The previous season was nominated for 17 Emmys on more than any other drama series.
