‘Mad Men’ Holds Up in Week Two

"Mad Men" continues to show some Nielsen muscle.

Week two of the AMC drama’s third season drew 1.9 million viewers, according to Nielsen. That’s down about 30 percent from last week’s record premiere, which saw "Mad Men" attract 2.8 million viewers.

But it’s doubtful anybody at AMC is frowning over the week two numbers.

Last year, "Mad Men" premiered to just over 2 million viewers and then slipped to 1.3 million in its second week. So the series is still doing substantially better this year than last.

Indeed, combined ratings for the first two weeks of "Mad Men" season three are up 30 percent vs. last year, according to AMC publicity.

In other Sunday cable ratings news, Lifetime continues to tout the performance of freshman hit "Drop Dead Diva." The series earned its best-yet women 18-49 rating Sunday, improving on its season-to-date average by 16 percent, the network said.
