Macy Gray has joined Fox hip-hop drama “Empire” in a recurring role.
The Grammy-winning R&B singer will play Tasha, who is having an affair with the much-younger Hakeem, over whom she exercises considerable influence and control.
“Empire” is a 13-episode family drama set in the world of a hip-hop empire featuring original and current music. Lee Daniels, Danny Strong, Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo are producers. Daniels will direct the pilot.

Terrence Howard, Gabourey Sidibe, Taraji P. Henson and Jussie Smollet also star in the project.
