FX’s comedy “Louie” returned to a warm welcome after a 19 month hiatus, scoring solid numbers with its Season 4 premiere on Monday.
The “Louie” season premiere at 10 p.m. scored 941,000 total viewers, a 19 percent boost over the previous season’s average. In the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, the premiere episode drew 635,000 viewers — a 26 percent boost over the Season 3 average.

A second episode at 10:30 performed solidly compared to the earlier episode, actually inching up 3 percent in the demo with 651,000 viewers 18-49. In total viewers, the second episode of “Louie” was off marginally from the 10 p.m. episode, with 910,000.
Show creator, writer, director, editor and star Louis CK asked FX chief John Landgraf for time off to revitalize the show — and viewers seem to have missed him. CK said in an email to fans Monday that after the third episode, the fourth season will include a multi-part, connected storyline.
