“Los Montaners” is headed to Disney+ next month. The series, which follows the lives of the iconic Montaner family, will debut with five episodes on Nov. 9.
“We have a show that really shows you the magic that this family has,” creator Lex Borrero, who produced the reality series through his and Tommy Mottola’s joint content studio Ntertain, told TheWrap. “I think what people are gonna get out of it is this incredible family going through things that we all go through and seeing them handle it together in a way that is truly amazing. I mean, I think that at the end of the show, you’re gonna want to be part of this family.”
The series promises to pull back the curtain on the Montaners, providing unrestricted access to their family life. Some of those moments include Ricky and Stefi’s wedding, the birth of Evaluna and Camilo’s son, Índigo, and Mau and Sara’s wish to start a family.

Spanning 10 episodes, audiences can expect a vérité-style documentary, made with mixed media formats, such as cell phone footage and confessional interviews, making use of Ricardo’s private video and photo archive who for years has recorded with his camera small and big moments of his growing family.
“Los Montaners” marks a joint venture with the Disney Branded Television unscripted team, who Borrero said “understood the vision for” the series.
“We didn’t want to have a show about a bunch of drama or create circumstances with tons of tension so that the gossip blogs could write about it. We wanted a show that really felt like a music documentary, because at the end of the day, this is a family full of musicians,” he explained, adding that there was 185 hours of footage shot over the span of two years. “Nothing that happens on the show was scripted in any way. All we did was ask them exactly what they’re going to be doing, and we documented it.”
Borrero’s ultimate goal with “Los Montaners,” as well as the rest of Ntertain’s endeavors, is to create content for Latinos that “relevant to culture to the conversation.” The studio also recently launched another series titled “El Plan,” which is hosted by renowned LatinX media personality, Eliane Gallero.
On YouTube, Ntertain Networks rolls out content on popular and emerging trends in music, pop culture, style, sneakers, sports, culinary and day-to-day news — all for Latin consumers.
“When we looked at our content, we said ‘OK, we think that Latin consumers are ready for a more educated version of human storylines. So it’s not just, ‘I’m a maid, and I made it.’ or ‘I’m a narco, and this is a narco story,”” Borrero said. “The main mission is really telling story human stories that haven’t been told. I want to change that.”
Five episodes of “Los Montaners” will be available on Disney+ Nov. 9. The other five episodes will debut at a later date.
