“Brothers in Atlanta,” which counts “Saturday Night Live” honcho Lorne Michaels as an executive producer, has received a series order from HBO.
The number of episodes that the order entails has not yet been determined.
The comedy stars and is written by “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” veterans Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin (pictured above), who play Langston and Moose, respectively, best friends who are trying to navigate relationships and life in the black Mecca of Atlanta. Langston, an Atlanta native, is an aspiring DJ whose career has stalled due to his lack of focus and his get-rich schemes. Moose, meanwhile, is new to Atlanta perennial and is a backup singer with dreams of the spotlight but he keeps putting his foot in his mouth.
The cast also includes guest stars Maya Rudolph, who plays Shirle, Moose’s demanding boss; and Jaden Smith as Curtis, Langston’s rowdy neighbor.
In addition to Michaels and his Broadway Video imprint, Riddle and Salahuddin are also executive producing. Tim Story (“Fantastic Four”) is directing and also executive producing via The Story Co. Broadway Video’s Andrew Singer is also on board to executive produce.
Jeff Field, Doug Griffin and Anna Dokoza are producing.
