Lindsay Lohan may make the “Machete” premiere after all – if she gets out of rehab early.
Sentenced to 90 days in an in-patient substance abuse treatment program, which she started serving right after her release from jail early on Aug. 2, the actress might now be getting out much earlier than expected. In fact, it’s early enough to walk the red carpet with director Robert Rodriguez, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba and other stars of the grindhouse homage before it comes out on Sept. 3.
Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers and Lohan defense lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley met with Elden Fox, the new Judge on the case on Wednesday afternoon.
“There was a brief meeting in chambers between the attorneys and Judge Fox,” LA District Attorney Spokesperson Sandi Gibbons confirmed to TheWrap “There was no proceeding in open court and there is nothing to report.”
However, an individual close to the case told TheWrap that a hearing on the current treatment status of Lohan, who has been in rehab three times before, is scheduled for around Aug. 25 in the Beverly Hills courthouse.
“The doctors say Lindsay’s doing great and the program they have her on doesn’t actually last 90 days,” the person added, “so it makes sense to talk to the Judge about reassessing her time.”
Fox replaced Judge Marsha Revel on the high profile case on Aug 10. Revel sentenced Lohan to a 90 day jail stint for probation violations on July 5, stemming from two DUIs the actress got in 2007. The judge recused herself in early August amid concerns from the DA’s office about some of her conversations with treatment program officials and Lohan’s lawyers.
Lohan, who only ended up serving 13 days in the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, CA due to overcrowding and the non-violent nature of her crime, has reportedly been shopping around an exclusive post-sentencing interview for upwards of $1 million.
The only film she seems to have lined up is “Inferno,” a biopic of “Deep Throat” porn star Linda Lovelace. Perhaps that’s why Lindsay’s mother Dina told the “Today Show” on Aug. 13 that the actress intends to leave Los Angeles for New York City once her current legal issues are settled.
