Lohan Lawyer Quits: Can It Get Worse for Lindsay?

Damning drug report follows week of bad news for jail bound actress

At this rate, Lindsay Lohan should be looking forward to starting her 90-day sentence in jail — things are deteriorating so rapidly on the outside that it can only be an improvement.

After tearfully receiving her sentence — earned through a total failure to regularly attend court-ordered alcohol education classes — things took a turn for the worse Thursday when Shawn Chapman Holley, Lohan’s lawyer and apparently the only sensible person on her side, has dropped her star client, a person close to the lawyer confirmed to TheWrap.

Up until the July 6 hearing in Beverly Hills that saw the once acclaimed actress found in violation of her probation, Holley, no stranger to celebrity cases, was able to successfully negotiate Lohan, who missed court hearings and treatments classes, out of probation violation and other trouble.

Ironically, losing Holley just a week and a half before her scheduled arrival at Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., on July 20 might end up being the lesser of two evils happening right now for Lohan.

On Wednesday, a probation officer’s report from earlier this month revealed that Lohan has been popping a pharmacy’s worth of painkillers and speedy ADD prescription pills “for as long as she can remember."

Kinda puts her apparent alcohol abstinence and passing grades on random drug tests in a different perspective.

“Before the test results are discussed,” the report says of the “Mean Girls” actress’ drug and booze samples, “the court should note that the defendant takes the following prescription drugs: Nexium, Zoloft, Trazadone, Adderall, and sometimes Dilaidid (sic) for dental pain.”

Adderall, which is usually prescribed for Attention Deficit Disorder but is widely abused as a diet aid, is essentially an amphetamine, for which Lohan tested positive on May 27, 2010, according to the three-page Probation Department report. On her June 2 and June 7 tests, the actress tested positive for both amphetamines and opiates.

“This is not a violation of probation, as these tests were positive for Adderall and the pain medication Dilaidid,” the report said.

No wonder Lindsay Lohan was a fidgety, wailing wreck at her probation hearing on Tuesday. With Lindsay’s appetite for self-destruction, perhaps her former lawyer knew it, too.

But what’s the court’s excuse?

At this rate, the question is not how much worse things can get for Lindsay Lohan but when?
