Listen to the Best Songs From Movie Soundtracks in March (Playlist)

ACM Awards nominee Russell Dickerson gives his top selects to TheWrap

Sometimes it’s really all about the soundtrack.

While the U.S. box office has been rocked for several weeks by the phenomenon of “Black Panther,” and upcoming titles like the LGBTQ dramedy “Love, Simon” are poised to give us unprecedented examples of representation — the music in our current crop of film releases is, well, dope.

TheWrap asked up-and-coming singer Russell Dickerson to compile his favorite tracks from the movies in theaters as well as those about to hit, like the long-brewing horror sequel “Strangers: Prey at Night.”

“Good music is essential to movies and these films got it right,” said Dickerson, who is nominated for New Male Vocalist of the Year at the upcoming American Country Music Awards, which will go down April 15 in Las Vegas. He’s also hitting the road this summer with Lady Antebellum and Darius Rucker.

“Everyone’s got a workout list or party playlist, but this has some of the most unique and talented artists making music today. Also including some throwback vibes. In the last few years, it feels like the return of the movie soundtracks, especially with movies like ‘Black Panther,’” he said.
