Lisa Kudrow Set to Host WGA Awards West Coast Show

“The Comeback” star agrees to gig that “gets little media attention, has no after-party and doesn’t pay anything”

Lisa Kudrow will host the 2015 Writers Guild Awards show in Los Angeles.

The Emmy-winning star of HBO’s “The Comeback” will emcee the Writers Guild of America-West event on Saturday, Feb. 14, from the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.

“One of my most proud professional moments was when I qualified to join the Writers Guild. Now, I’m truly honored to be asked to host the WGAW awards show this year,” Kudrow said in a statement.

“I’m beyond excited to have Lisa Kudrow hosting. When we first approached her, she was a little reluctant. But when I told her this awards show gets very little media attention, has no after-party and doesn’t pay anything, she said it was a no brainer,” added Hugh Fink, the 2015 WGA award show’s executive producer.

Kudrow has decades worth of memorable television roles, including as Phoebe Buffay on NBC’s “Friends,” Valerie Cherish on “The Comeback” and Fiona Wallice on “Web Therapy.”

But the actress and comedienne, who has been a WGA-West member since 2015, is also an accomplished writer and producer. She co-created “The Comeback” and is an executive producer on “Web Therapy,” which began as a web series before landing on Showtime.

As TheWrap previously reported, Ben Affleck, who is an Oscar-winning writer (“Good Will Hunting”) in addition to being an accomplished actor-director-producer, is set to receive the WGA-West’s humanitarian prize at the February award show.
