Lex Scott Davis will play R&B legend Toni Braxton in the upcoming Lifetime biopic “Un-break My Heart,” TheWrap has learned.
According to Davis’ website, she has one television credit to her name, playing a waitress in an episode of the TV Land sitcom “The Exes.” She was also a “featured extra” in “Straight Outta Compton.” The 24-year-old dancer, model and actress is from Baltimore and studied acting at the New York Film Academy.
Based on Braxton’s 2014 memoir, “Un-Break My Heart” is an authorized biopic chronicling her divorce, financial difficulties and struggles with her son’s autism. The chart-topping singer will serve as executive producer and appear in the film, which begins production later this year.
As TheWrap previously reported, “Stitchers” actress Tiffany Hines has been cast to play Braxton’s sister, Tamara.
Braxton currently stars in the WE tv reality series “Braxton Family Values,” which follows the relationships, careers and personal lives of Braxton and her four sisters, Tamar, Towanda, Trina and Traci, along with family matriarch Miss E.
“Un-Break My Heart” will also be executive produced by Craig Baumgarten (“Twist of Faith”), Erik Kritzer (“The Runaround”) and Marcus Grant.
The script is by Susan McMartin (“Mom,” “Two and a Half Men”), and Link Entertainment is producing. Vondie Curtis-Hall (“Abducted: The Carlina White Story”) will direct.
