Dante Brown Joins Lethal Weapon Pilot

Newcomer Dante Brown has landed the role of Roger “R.J.” Murtaugh, Jr, son to Daman Wayans Sr.’s character, in Fox’s “Lethal Weapon” pilot.

Wayans has been cast in the lead role of Roger Murtaugh, which was famously played by Danny Glover in the 1987 feature film.

A good but slightly rebellious young man, Brown’s 17-year-old Roger Murtaugh, Jr. — aka “RJ” — is trying carve out his own place in the world, outside the influence of his parents’ expectations. His flirtation with the military, instead of going to college, might just give his father another heart attack.

Brown could appear in multiple episodes if the pilot is picked up to series.

The cast also includes Clayne Crawford as Martin Riggs, the role played by Mel Gibson in the films, Golden Brooks as Trish Murtaugh and Jordana Brewster as Dr. Maureen “Mo” Cahill.

McG (“Charlie’s Angels”) is directing and executive producing the pilot.

Warner Bros., Lin Pictures and Good Session Productions will also produce the one-hour drama. Matt Miller will executive produce and write the pilot. Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz will also exec produce.

Brown’s TV credits include “Mr. Robinson,” “Shameless” and “Law & Order: SVU.” He is represented by Coast to Coast and Attorney Derek Kroeger of Myman Greenspan Fineman Fox Rosenberg Light.
