But it’s still peanuts compared to football

The CW’s “Legends of the Hidden Temple” reboot, hosted by Cristela Alonzo, hit a new series high in total viewers on Sunday. OK, so that was just Episode 3, but still.

“Legends” added 78,000 overall viewers from last week. That may not seem like a lot, but it’s a significant percentage of the rebooted game show’s weekly audience.

Of course, it’s not actually a lot when compared with Sunday night’s NFL football numbers.

Due to the nature of live sports, the below early Nielsen numbers for NBC and CBS should be considered subject to significant adjustment. Fox will also adjust a bit due to late-running NFL countries in certain markets. Final figures should be in later on Monday.

NBC was first in ratings with a 3.0 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 11.3 million, according to preliminary numbers. Those are the early (read: not time-zone adjusted) averages for NBC Sports’ pregame show “Football Night in America” and the actual primetime NFL game, “Sunday Night Football.”

CBS was second in ratings with a 1.1 and in total viewers with 7.9 million. Following an NFL overrun, “60 Minutes” starting at 7:30 p.m. on the East Coast drew a 1.3 rating and 10.1 million total viewers. Beginning at 8:30, “The Equalizer” put up a 0.8 rating and 7.5 million total viewers. Starting a 9:30, “NCIS: Los Angeles” had a 0.5 rating and 5.6 million total viewers. “SEAL Team” at 10:30 got a 0.4 rating and 3.8 million total viewers.

Fox was third in ratings with a 0.5 and fourth in total viewers with 1.6 million. Following a pair of repeats, “The Simpsons” at 8 received a 0.6 rating and 1.7 million total viewers. “Great North” at 8:30 got a 0.4 rating and 1.1 million total viewers. At 9, “Bob’s Burgers” had a 0.4 rating and 1.2 million total viewers. “Family Guy” at 9:30 closed out Fox’s primetime with a 0.5 rating and 1.4 million total viewers.

(Fox and The CW do not nationally schedule the 10 o’clock hour. ABC, CBS and NBC do.)

ABC was fourth in ratings with a 0.3 and third in total viewers with 2.6 million, airing all reruns.

The CW was fifth in ratings with a 0.1 and in total viewers with 430,000. “Legends of the Hidden Temple” at 8 had a 0.1 rating and 341,000 total viewers. Repeats followed.

We do not have early Nielsen numbers for Spanish-language broadcast networks Univision and Telemundo.
