Lee Pace in Talks to Play Pattinson’s BFF in ‘Breaking Dawn’

Former “Pushing Daisies” star will play laid-back vampire Garrett in Summit’s two-part adaptation of the final “Twilight” book

Lee Pace, the former star of the short-lived TV series "Wonderfalls" and "Pushing Daisies," is in talks to join the cast of "Breaking Dawn," the fourth film in Summit's blockbuster "Twilight" franchise, an individual familiar with the negotiations has told TheWrap.

The studio did not immediately respond to TheWrap's inquiries seeking confirmation.

Pace will play Garrett, the best friend of Robert Pattinson's character, Edward. Garrett is described as laid-back and down-to-earth, with a rugged, long-haired look and a decent sense of humor for a vampire.

The 31-year-old actor is a little bit older than the 24-year-old Pattinson, but when you're undead, age is but a number.

Bill Condon will direct the two-part adaptation of the final book in Stephenie Meyer's best-selling vampire saga, and Pace is his first casting decision since signing on to the project.

Production on "Breaking Dawn" begins in October in Louisiana and Vancouver, and the first film is set to sink its fangs into the box office on Nov. 18, 2011.

Pace first came to my attention as cold-blooded killer Dick Hickock in Doug McGrath's "Infamous." He recently starred in "Marmaduke," and previously appeared in "When in Rome" and "A Single Man." However, it was his bold, leading-man debut in Tarsem's fantasy film "The Fall" that initially made me a fan and designated the actor as one to watch in the future.

Speaking of which, Pace next stars in Max Winkler's highly-anticipated wedding comedy "Ceremony," as well as the Hilary Swank-Jeffrey Dean Morgan thriller "The Resident."

He is represented by CAA and Management 360.
