The resurrected "Law & Order: Los Angeles" seems determined to return to the small screen with a bang.
The NBC crime drama, which was recently added back to the schedule following a cast shake-up, is filming an episode that will sound awfully familiar to to those with knowledge of Ronni Chasen's murder.
The veteran publicist died in November after being shot driving home from the premiere of the Christina Aguilera/Cher movie "Burlesque."
The "Law & Order" episode in question is titled "Benedict Canyon" and it centers on a Hollywood stylist who is murdered. NBC reps told TheWrap that "what appeared to be random robbery gone bad is really a murder for hire, with dark family secrets from the past [as] the motive."
Beverly Hills police characterized Chasen's slaying as a random, botched robbery, though a preliminary theory held that the gunman was an expert marksman. The suspect committed suicide when police attempted to question him.
Network reps were quick to add that "Law & Order: Los Angeles" is, ultimately, fictional.
The episode will guest-star Jobeth Williams ("Private Practice") and Jeff Fahey ("Lost").
