‘Law & Order’ A.D.A. Maroun Defends a Female Witness: ‘Men Bounce Back From Scandals, Not Women’ (Exclusive Video)

Odelya Halevi’s Maroun tells Jack McCoy and Nolan Price to consider the damage they’d do to a witness by compelling testimony

In this exclusive “Law & Order” clip from Nov. 10’s “Only the Lovely” episode, A.D.A. Samantha Maroun (Odelya Halevi) stops male colleagues Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Nolan Price (Hugh Dancy) in their tracks when she takes the side of a reluctant female witness over theirs.

The case involves the murder of a female crisis consultant, which leads to Devon Miller (Mark Feuerstein), a con man who was a companion to several high society women. McCoy wants one of Miller’s other targets, Grace Pollard (Alysia Reiner), to testify, but she refuses as it would ruin her reputation as a lawyer who has advocated for women’s rights.

Nolan impatiently states, “Her ego is getting in the way,” but Maroun emphatically disagrees.

“No. It’s about legacy, preserving all the causes she’s advocated for,” she tells McCoy and Price, who are stunned by her vehemence on the issue. She suggests a plea deal that will stilll send Miller to prison, but also allow Pollard to retain her reputation.”

When Nolan says, “Murder trumps humiliation. Grace Pollard and her causes will recover,” Maroun replies, “Easy for you to say Men bounce back from scandals. Not women… This will stain her and all she’s fought for.”

“Law & Order” airs Thursdays at 8/7c p.m. on NBC.
