Lauren Petterson has been named president of Fox Business Network, replacing Brian Jones, Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott announced Thursday.
Petterson, who begins her new role today and reports directly to Scott, will continue to oversee talent development at Fox News Channel.
Jones, who had overseen the launch of Fox Business in 2007 and worked at both Fox News and Fox Business for over two decades, will exit the company. No reason was given for his abrupt departure, which comes two years after he was promoted to be president of Fox Business.
Petterson previously served as SVP of morning programming and talent development for Fox News, overseeing the entire “Fox & Friends“ weekday and weekend franchise for the last 11 years.
“I’m thrilled to take on this new, challenging role at a pivotal time in business news and look forward to working with such a dedicated and talented staff both on and off the air,” she said.
“Lauren has extraordinary skills in developing programming and working with talent and I am confident she will lead Fox Business to even further success,” Scott said in a statement.
Scott also offered praise for Jones. “Brian is a talented executive and a distinguished colleague who built FOX Business and accomplished a great deal during his 20 years of combined service at both FBN and FNC,” she said. “We wish him continued success as he embarks on his next chapter.”
