OK, we get that push notifications are hard to look away from nowadays, but this is ridiculous.
In a new promo for Season 5 of “Last Week Tonight,” host John Oliver can’t pry his eyes from his phone as the narrator talks up his HBO late-night show. Oliver is a little too busy being interrupted by Trump news (he’s in a Twitter fight with “Who Will Save Your Soul” singer Jewel — obvs), finding out the opioid epidemic has hit the feline community (watch your kittens), and discovering there is another Harambi incident (wait, how?).
Because Oliver only gets to report on breaking news on a weekly basis (and is just coming back from hiatus) he clearly has some catching up to do. Hopefully he gets through it all before the new season premieres in February.
