Ratings: Fox Tops Sunday Demo With Strong ‘Last Man on Earth’ Debut

ABC’s “Secrets & Lies” posts unimpressive premiere, CBS’s “Battle Creek” starts soft in 18-49

Fox finished first in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic on Sunday night, thanks to a strong debut from Will Forte‘s “Last Man on Earth.” The network’s originals all saw big demo gains in primetime. That said, the network was fourth in total viewers.

CBS was tops in total viewers, despite an underwhelming start to “Battle Creek.” For second-place ABC, “Secrets & Lies” had a pretty quiet primetime premiere.

Fox was first in ratings with a 1.8 rating/5 share in the key demo, but fourth in total viewers with an average of 4.1 million, according to preliminary numbers. Following a rerun, the time period premiere of “Bob’s Burgers” at 7:30 p.m. had a 1.4/4 and three million viewers. “The Simpsons” at 8 received a 1.8/5 and four million viewers. “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” at 8:30 got a 1.8/5 and 3.6 million viewers. “Last Man on Earth” at 9 earned a 2.3/6 — tops of the night — and 5.7 million viewers.

ABC was second in ratings with a 1.6/5 and in viewers with 5.7 million. A special “Once Upon a Time: Secrets” at 7 posted a 1.3/4 and 4.4 million viewers. The regular show itself at 8 received a 2.2/6 and 6.6 million viewers. The series premiere of Ryan Phillippe drama “Secrets & Lies” had a 1.5/4 and 5.9 million viewers.

CBS was third in ratings with a 1.2/4, but first in viewers with 10.4 million. At 7, “60 Minutes” got a 1.6/5 and night-high 13.3 million viewers. “Madam Secretary” at 8 received a 1.3/4 and 11.4 million viewers. “The Good Wife” at 9 had a 1.1/3 and 8.9 million viewers. “Battle Creek” at 10 posted a 1.0/3 and 7.8 million viewers.

NBC and Univision tied for fourth in ratings, both with a 1.0/3. NBC was third in viewers with 4.5 million, Univision was fifth with 2.7 million.

For NBC, following a repeat, “Dateline” had a 0.8/2 and 3.9 million viewers.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.3/1 and in viewers with 740,000.
