LaKeith Stanfield (“Atlanta”) and Omar Sy (“Lupin”) are set to star in the next film from “The Harder They Fall” filmmaker Jeymes Samuel, a project called “The Book of Clarence,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Legendary has acquired the rights to produce the film, with James Lassiter, Shawn Carter and Tendo Nagenda all attached as producers. Nagenda, who recently exited Netflix, previously oversaw production on “The Harder They Fall” at the streamer, and this is the second time that Lassiter, Carter and Samuel have collaborated following that feature.

Plot or even genre details for “The Book of Clarence” are being kept under wraps. However, Samuel will write, direct, produce and also compose for the new film, which will be his third feature following his Jonathan Majors-starring neo-Western from last year and “They Die By Dawn.”

Stanfield currently stars on the fourth and final season of “Atlanta” and will next be seen in Disney’s “Haunted Mansion.” He also previously starred in Samuel’s “The Harder They Fall.”

Sy currently stars on Netflix’s “Lupin” and had a film “Father and Soldier” premiere at Cannes this year ahead of a French release later this year. He’ll next be seen in Lionsgate’s “Shadow Force” and Peacock’s “The Killer.”

Jeymes Samuel is represented by CAA and Matthew Johnson and Greg Slewett at Johnson, Shapiro, Slewett and Kole. LaKeith Stanfield is represented by CAA, Stark Management and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis. Omar Sy is represented by CAA and Agence Adequat in France, as well as attorney Warren Dern at Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Deadline first reported the news.
