“La Brea” was no (sink)hole in NBC’s Tuesday schedule. The new series scored 6.2 million viewers with last night’s premiere, which followed “The Voice.”
“The Voice” was Tuesday’s No. 1 show. If 10 o’clock show “New Amsterdam” had even a *solid* night, NBC would have won primetime outright.
It’s important to note here that Nielsen’s earliest-available numbers are likely inflating The CW’s performance. That’s because the young-skewing broadcast network carried an important New York Yankees game last night, and this first set of ratings data does not have that — nor time-zone differences — factored out.
NBC and ABC tied for first in ratings, both with a 0.7 in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. NBC was second in total viewers with an average of 5.6 million, according to preliminary numbers. ABC was third in total viewers with 2.7 million.
For NBC, “The Voice” at 8 p.m. posted a 0.9 rating and 7.1 million total viewers. At 9, “La Brea” launched to a 0.7 rating and those 6.2 million total viewers. “New Amsterdam” at 10 had a 0.4 rating and 3.5 million total viewers.
“Bachelor in Paradise” was the only program on ABC’s schedule last night, averaging the above numbers from 8 o’clock to 11 o’clock. The season finale is next week.
CBS was third in ratings with a 0.5 and first in total viewers with 6.1 million. “FBI” at 8 drew a 0.6 rating and 7 million total viewers. At 9, the regular time period premiere for newbie “FBI: International” had a 0.5 rating and 5.9 million total viewers. The new time period premiere for “FBI: Most Wanted” at 10 got a 0.5 rating and 5.5 million total viewers.
Fox was fourth in ratings with a 0.4 and in total viewers with 2.2 million. “The Resident” at 8 had a 0.4 rating and 2.9 million total viewers. At 9, “Our Kind of People” got a 0.3 rating and 1.5 million total viewers.
The CW was fifth in ratings with a 0.2 and in viewers with 944,000. Again, those numbers are particularly subject to change, but they currently break down like this: “DC’s Stargirl” (8-9) had a 0.2 rating and 935,000 total viewers, and “Supergirl” (9-10) got a 0.2 rating and 952,000 total viewers.
We do not have early Nielsen numbers for Spanish-language networks Univision and Telemundo.
