Kristen Stewart confronts ghosts in the new trailer for “Personal Shopper,” a film in which the actress reacquaints herself with the supernatural, harking back to her “Twilight” days.
Stewart plays Maureen, a young American living in Paris who works as a unique kind of assistant to model/actress/socialite Kyra. She attempts to communicate with her deceased brother and asks for a sign from above, but she soon gets more than she bargained for when she starts receiving text messages from him — or someone else from an unknown phone number.
The film recently screened at Cannes Film Festival, where it received several boos during the press screening although it garnered generally positive reviews after.
The film marks a reunion for Stewart with director Olivier Assayas on what TheWrap film reviewer Ben Croll calls an “evil twin” of their previous collaboration, 2014’s “Clouds of Sils Maria.” That film received a standing ovation at Cannes two years ago, and netted Stewart a Cesar, France’s highest acting honor, for best supporting actress.
IFC Films will distribute “Personal Shopper,” but no release date has been set yet.
