Jimmy Kimmel is adding his voice to the many who believe that Donald Trump will be ignoring his federal subpoena to testify before the Jan. 6 committee. According to the late night host, the only way Trump’s hand is ending up on a bible to swear an oath is if that bible is in a place it definitely shouldn’t be.
Returning from a week off on Monday night, Kimmel had quite a few headlines to catch up on. That of course included the subpoena issued to Trump by the Jan. 6 committee. While many are confident that Trump won’t appear to testify under oath — even Trump ally Ted Cruz scoffed at the idea on Monday — the twice impeached former president himself has said that he will appear, if his testimony is televised.
But even then, Kimmel is doubtful, saying that Trump “is not that stupid.” There’s only one circumstance that Kimmel could see leading to his cooperation.
“The only way they’re getting Trump to put his hand on a Bible is if they hide it up a waitress’ skirt,” Kimmel mocked. “He’s not going in.”
Kimmel also touched on the reports that Trump is apparently considering Marjorie Taylor Greene as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election.
“You remember Marjorie? The racist, shower drain clog?” Kimmel joked. “Well, Trump is said to be thinking about her as as possible VP. Eric is like, ‘Does this mean she’s my new mommy?’”
Speaking a touch more seriously, Kimmel torched the idea of Trump and Greene running together, joking that “the only thing those two should be running together is a Hooters in Fort Lauderdale.”
