Kim Raver is ready to scrub in again.
The actress will have a multi-episode arc on “Grey’s Anatomy” for its upcoming Season 14. She reprises the role of cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Teddy Altman, the character she played in Seasons 6 through 8 of the ABC medical drama.
Teddy was last seen in the Season 8 finale, when Owen (Kevin McKidd) fired her as a way of encouraging her to accept a position at a military hospital.
After Season 8 ended, “Grey’s” creator Shonda Rhimes said in a statement that Raver herself had made the decision to walk away.
“Kim’s series option was up, and she was ready to give Teddy Altman a much-needed vacation,” Rhimes said. “It’s been a pleasure working with someone as talented and funny and kind as Kim; everyone is going to miss her terribly. I like to imagine that Teddy is still out there in the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ universe, running Army Medical Command and building a new life.”
After her final Season 8 episode aired, Raver tweeted, “I feel fortunate and grateful to have worked with such an amazing team at [“Grey’s”]. I am going to miss everyone!!”
The actress, also known for her roles on “24” and “Lipstick Jungle,” will also be seen in a recurring role on the fifth season of Showtime’s “Ray Donovan.”
Gersh and Atlas Artists rep the actress.
