"Killing Them Softly" stars Brad Pitt as hitman Jackie Cogan who — you guessed it — likes to kill his victims softly.
The New Orleans-set crime-thriller, from director and screenwriter Andrew Dominik, follows Cogan in his investigation of a mob-protected poker game that went awry.
"Have you ever killed anyone?" Cogan asks. "They cry, they plea, they beg for their mothers. I like to kill them softly, from a distance."
Cogan may stay under the radar, but if the film's first trailer is any indication, bad-assery is still likely to follow suit.
The film, which is based on the George V. Higgins novel "Cogan's Trade," also stars Ray Liotta, Richard Jenkins and James Gandolfini.
"Killing Them Softly" hits theaters Oct. 19. In the meantime, check out the trailer:
