Kieran Culkin surprised his wife Jazz Charton with a plea for a fourth child after winning his very first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor at the 97th Academy Awards.

“I have to thank my wife, Jazz for absolutely everything, for giving me my favorite people in the world. This is, please don’t play the music, because I want to tell a really quick story about Jazz,” the actor said, before sharing a brief anecdote with the audience. “About a year ago, I was on a stage like this, and I very stupidly publicly said that I want a third kid from her, because she said, if I won the award, she would give me the kid. It turns out, she said that because she didn’t think I was going to win. But then people came up to her and were like, you know, really annoying her.”

“But anyway, after the show, we’re walking through a parking lot, she’s holding me, and we’re trying to find her car … And she goes, ‘Oh God, I did say that.’ I guess I owe you a third kid,” he continued. “And I turned to her and I said, ‘Really, I want four.’ And she turned to me, I swear to God this happened, this is just over a year ago. She said, ‘I will give you four when you win an Oscar.’ I held my hand out, she shook it, and I have not brought it up once until just now. You remember that, honey? You do? OK. Then I just had this to say to you, Jess, love of my life, who gave little faith, no pressure. I love you. I’m really sorry I did this again, and let’s get cracking on those kids. What do you say?”

Culkin took home the golden statue for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Jesse Eisenberg’s comedy-drama “A Real Pain,” in which he starred as Benji Kaplan. The award was presented to Culkin by Robert Downey Jr. This was Culkin’s first Oscar nomination and his first win.

The Oscars ceremony kicked off Sunday night at the Dolby Theater at Ovation Hollywood.
