Fox’s “Broadchurch” American Adaptation, “Gracepoint,” will not conclude the same way that its British influencer did, according to network chairman of entertainment Kevin Reilly.
“We have a different ending than they have, so there will be something to stay tuned for with a twist,” Reilly said on Monday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

Reilly and his counterparts considered airing the British version — which consists of 8 episodes — as-is, but elected to remake it as an American show spanning 10 episodes instead. “We really did contemplate it, but I think it would probably be lower-rated, where we could have a really big win with this,” Reilly said.
Still, the remake will be very faithful to the original: “I’ve learned the hard way: don’t fix what ain’t broke,” Reilly added.

Produced by Shine America in association with Kudos and Imaginary Friends, “Gracepoint” is scheduled to begin filming this month, for broadcast during the 2014-2015 season. The crime series will be executive-produced by the original series’ creator, Chris Chibnall (Dr. Who”), with Shine America’s Carolyn Bernstein (“The Bridge”), Kudos’ Jane Featherstone (“The Hour”), Dan Futterman (“Capote”) and Anya Epstein (“In Treatment”). Futterman and Epstein will serve as showrunners. Chibnall will write the premiere episode and James Strong (“Broadchurch”) is signed on to direct. The series will be distributed by Shine International.
Anna Gunn, Jacki Weaver and Nick Nolte will star in the remake.
