Kevin Bacon will star in and executive produce a “Tremors” TV series, TheWrap has learned.
Universal Cable Productions and Jason Blum‘s Blumhouse Productions are developing the drama based on the 1990 cult hit, Andrew Miller (“The Secret Circle”) will write the script.
Bacon will reprise his role as Valentine McKee for the first time since the original film 25 years ago. Four direct-to-video sequels and one short-lived SciFi Channel series were produced in the meantime without Bacon’s involvement.
Directed by Ron Underwood, “Tremors” followed the inhabitants of Perfection, Nevada as they were terrorized by giant underground worms. Fred Ward, Finn Carter, Michael Gross and Reba McEntire also starred.
There is currently no network attached, but UCP reports that there are “multiple bidders” interested in the series.
