Ken Jeong’s ‘Dr. Ken’ Gets Full-Season Order From ABC

Sitcom gets order for 9 more episodes, bringing total to 22

ABC has given a full season order to freshman comedy “Dr. Ken,” the company announced Tuesday.

The Ken Jeong-led sitcom follows the “Hangover” actor as a doctor and family man with an irreverent bedside manner. He wants the best for his patients — he’d just prefer that they take their whining and complaining elsewhere. At the HMO clinic where he works, he is a little too honest, but he can’t seem to help himself. At home, Ken is a husband and easily irritated father of two, facing the daily trials of family life neither comfortably nor gracefully.

The supporting cast includes Suzy Nakamura as Allison, Tisha Campbell Martin as Damona, Jonathan Slavin as Clark, Kate Simses as Julie, Albert Tsai as Dave, Krista Marie Yu as Molly, and Dave Foley as Pat.

Executive producers are Mike Sikowitz, John Davis, John Fox and Ken Jeong. Mike O’Connell is co-executive producer. “Dr. Ken” is produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios.

The sitcom is currently averaging a 1.5 live + same day rating, and is outperforming other new weeknight comedies such as “Grandfathered” and “The Grinder” on Fox, and NBC’s “Truth Be Told.”

NBC’s “Blindspot”, ABC’s “Quantico” and Fox’s “Rosewood” are the only other new shows to be given full season pick-ups. ABC also recently gave a full season order to “Fresh Off the Boat’s” second season.

“Dr. Ken” airs on Fridays at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
