Kelly Clarkson is not only the first winner of “American Idol,” she’s also the best performing “Idol” contestant of all time in terms of chart-topping singles.
Clarkson dominates the list of the top 100 singles by “American Idol” contestants as compiled by Billboard with 19 songs, including several in the top 15.
Carrie Underwood is also a powerful force, along with fellow “Idol” standout Chris Daughtry. Season six winner Jordin Sparks also had two songs in the top 15, with Phillip Phillips, Ruben Studdard, and Clay Aiken rounding out the highest performers.
But with the series ending after its upcoming 15th season, this will be the Fox competition show’s last chance to find America’s next chart-toppers.
