Keith Urban will join the new music competition series “The Road” as the headliner. Not only will the county star grace the silver screen this fall, fans also have the chance to witness live tapings of the series for free.

The CBS series from the minds of Taylor Sheridan and Blake Shelton will discover the next rising music star as they open for the 4-time Grammy Award winner at venues across the country.

“I spent a lot of my underage life playing in some seedy pubs, sometimes just for the bartender. So I love the idea of throwing artists into a real-world environment to find out if they are artists,” Urban said in a press release.

“Paying your dues sucks, but there are things in this business that can’t be taught, like how to put together a set list, whether to extend or cut a song during your performance or how to work the crowd. For me, touring has always been my first love. It’s where the rubber meets the road. But it’s the only road to take if you want to be a performer.”

Urban and Shelton will team up to discover which emerging talents have the chops to make it on “The Road.” Musicians will take their talents to several venues in Texas, Oklahoma and Tennessee. The series is set to premiere in fall 2025, but the performances will take place this spring.
