Keanu Reeves plays a retired assassin drawn back into a world of violence and mayhem after his puppy — yes, puppy — is killed, in the first trailer for “John Wick,” released Friday.
The film starts off with the star driving around town with in a muscle car with an adorable little dog. Soon enough nefarious forces take the life of his animal and it’s enough to send Reeves over the edge.
“I lost everything,” Reeves laments. “That dog was a final gift from my dying wife.”

“John Wick” blasts its way into theaters Oct. 24.
