Katy Perry has finally noticed the “Catfish” victim who thought he was dating her for six years.

The “Firework” singer spoke out recently about the man who appeared on the MTV show after being duped into believing he was in an intimate online relationship with her, and Perry was quite sympathetic.

“Somebody sent me a link [to the story],” she told SiriusXM’s “Morning Mashup on Thursday.” “I didn’t actually read through it, because I just think it’s really unfortunate and very sad.”

According to “Entertainment Tonight,” Perry did admit that MTV subject Spencer, who even made Perry an engagement ring using his great-grandmother’s emerald, wasn’t “wide awake.”

“Yeah, you know, not everyone can be, but I think that, you know, my heart goes out to him, actually,” she said, “because anybody that’s been fooled like that or just you know… People have dreams, and people live in different parts of the world where not everything is as accessible.”

“Like, we live on the coast, and you know, we get stuff in a way that some other people don’t get, and so I feel bad for him,” Perry added. “And so I didn’t really like to indulge in that, because my heart would die.”

“Catfish” hosts Nev Schulman and Max Joseph were the bearers of bad news for Spencer, informing him that he had actually been communicating this whole time with a woman named Heather who lives in England.

Unfortunately for Spence-dogg, Perry is very publicly in a relationship with Orlando Bloom. And based on some of the photos the Internet has gone crazy over lately, who can compete with that?
