Playboy model Katie May died on Thursday after suffering a stroke, according to a GoFundMe page established to care for her daughter. She was 34.
May had been hospitalized and was in critical condition after suffering a stroke on Monday, TMZ reported.
The reputed “Queen of Snapchat,” who went by the Internet handle MsKatieMay, reportedly sought treatment for neck pain recently. TMZ cited her family as having said the stroke was brought on by a blockage in May’s carotid artery.
The model’s most recent Instagram post, from earlier this week, reads, “Hope everyone is having a great Monday! It’s very windy here in LA.” Her Facebook profile states that she is originally from Pittsburgh.
May appeared in a pictorial with other social media stars on Playboy.com in the fall. Playboy has not responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.
Recently Internet rumors had circulated that the model had died, with one account claiming that she fell from a cliff.
The GoFundMe page set up to support May’s daughter Mia read earlier this week, “Katie’s family plans on using any money raised to help pay for education, Mia’s daily life and to help her dad with the costs of parenting.”
As of this writing, the page has raised $9,822 of its $100,000 goal.
