“This Is Us” has cast Katie Couric and “Atlanta” star Brian Tyree Henry in guest roles for the second half of its first season, creator Dan Fogelman revealed Wednesday.
Couric will appear as herself in a segment where she interviews Justin Hartley’s character, Kevin, while Henry will play a character from William’s (Ron Cephas Jones) past, and appear in both the present-day storyline and in flashbacks.
NBC just announced the show had been renewed for two more seasons. Each of the two new seasons will consist of 18 episodes, as with Season 1.
The series has been a major ratings driver for NBC, with each episode averaging a 4.6 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic and 14.6 million viewers overall in live-plus-seven ratings.
The cast also includes Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson and Chris Sullivan.
“This Is Us” airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET.
