Kanye West went on a Twitter tantrum on Friday, ranting about online children’s games that allow kid players to make in-app purchases.
“F–k any game company that puts in-app purchases on kids games!!!!” the rapper tweeted, with other tweets following, such as, “That makes no sense!!! We give the iPad to our child and every 5 minutes there’s a new purchase!!!”
Twitter users were quick to point out that his wife, Kim Kardashian, offers in-app purchases in her own online game, “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood,” with some costing as much as $40.
In fact, the in-app purchases were a main factor allowing Kardashian to rake in $1.6 million its first five days on the market. Business Insider reported that the game made $43 million in its third quarter.
Kardashian had defended her in-app purchase options, stating that parents can set their app controls to check their children’s spending habits.
“You just have to make sure that your parental controls are all set,” she told “Today’s” Matt Lauer last August. “I think you just have to be responsible, and don’t have your credit card linked to where your kid can just spend if they want to, or ask permission.”
The Twitter community was quick to shed the same advice for Kanye, telling him that he can “turn off in-app purchasing ability” or “turn on the parental controls.”
