Kanye West went on a lengthy rant in the Oval Office on Thursday where he was meeting with President Trump for lunch to discuss prison reform.
At one point, in between effusive praise for the president, West said that wearing Trump’s red Make America Great Again hat made him feel like Superman.
“When I put this hat on, it made me feel like Superman,” said West. “You made a superman cape for me.”
“No bulls—,” he added before warning assembled news crews carrying the feed to bleep him.
West said Hillary Clinton did not resonate with him as a man who didn’t have many positive male influences.
“I love Hillary. I love everyone, but the campaign ‘I’m with her’ just didn’t make me feel — as a guy who didn’t get to see his dad all the time — like a guy who could play catch with his son.”
West’s meeting lasted nearly 30 minutes, with the rapper touching on subjects from mental health reform, gun violence, black voters, Democrats, trade with China to his desire to repeal the 13th Amendment — which abolished slavery.
“What black and African Americans — we really get caught up in the idea of racism instead of the idea of industry,” said West. “A liberal would try to control a black people through racism because black people are proud emotional people.”
Trump sat mostly speechless, which ended with West hugging the president — who remained seated.
“That was pretty impressive,” said Trump. “That statement is amazing.”
“It was from the soul,” West proclaimed.
Earlier this year, West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, met with President Trump to discuss prison reform. As a result of the meeting, the president granted clemency to Alice Johnson, who was in prison for a drug offense.
