Justin Timberlake escaped the long arm of the law — but he couldn’t evade a gentle poke in the ribs from his wife Jessica Biel.
A week after risking jail time by taking a photo of himself voting in Tennessee, Timberlake took a shot from Biel on Monday after the former “Seventh Heaven” star cast her own vote.
Biel posted a trio of photos of herself on Instagram sporting an “I Voted” sticker on various parts of her face, including on her nose, over her eye and on her forehead.
But it was in the caption to the photos that Biel took aim at her husband.
“When you’re so turnt up about voting that you do a photo shoot with your sticker and think it’s cool but then second guess it, but you’ve already posted, but at least you waited to get home before snapping so you won’t almost go to jail, shout out to @justintimberlake,” Biel wrote.
Ouch.
Timberlake, a Hillary Clinton supporter, landed on the wrong side of election law last week when he posted an Instagram photo of himself voting in his native Tennessee, which is a no-no in the Volunteer State.
Initially, a spokesman for the Shelby County, Tennessee district attorney’s office told TheWrap that the situation was “under review.” However, the DA’s office did a quick about-face hours later.
“The statement released earlier today by my office regarding Justin Timberlake and an investigation was incorrect and was released without my knowledge,” Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich said in a subsequent statement. “I am out of town at a conference. No one in our office is currently investigating this matter nor will we be using our limited resources to do so.”
Timberlake later told “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon that he had no idea he was running afoul of the law by snapping the photo, and had only hoped to encourage people to vote.
Well, he certainly encouraged his wife to have a laugh at his expense, anyway.
