"Other Desert Cities" moved to Broadway in 2011 following a much-acclaimed off-Broadway run at Lincoln Center Theater in December 2010.

Ben Brantley of the New York Times called it "the most richly enjoyable new play for grown-ups that New York has known in many a season." Linda Winer of Newsday wrote, “… a smart, juicy, gorgeously written family drama that knows individual psychology as keenly as it understands the world around it.. . .”

The Taper production will be staged by Robert Egan, artistic director and producer of the Ojai Playwrights Conference. He previously directed Baitz's play "Ten Unknowns" at the Taper in 2003 in a production starring Stacey Keach.

He'll be playing Trip Wyeth, a role originated by Thomas Sadoski of the HBO series "The Newsroom."

Foxworth last appeared on Broadway in the replacement cast of Tracy Letts' Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning play "August: Osage County." Foxworth made his Broadway debut as a member of the chorus in 1969's revival of "King Henry V." He will take on the role of family patriarch Lyman Wyeth, a role originated on Broadway by Keach.

She is slated to play Silda, a role originated by Linda Lavin off-Broadway and played on Broadway by Judith Light, who won the 2012 Tony Award for best featured actress in a play.

"Other Desert Cities" is set to begin previews at the downtown Los Angeles theater on Nov. 28, with an official opening on Dec. 9. The play runs through Jan. 6, 2013.
