‘Jumanji’ Looks to Retake No. 1 Spot at Box Office

“Winchester” also enters box office on quiet Super Bowl weekend

On a slow Super Bowl weekend, Sony’s “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” is on pace to be the No. 1 film for one more weekend before the new slate of February blockbusters takes over.

In its seventh weekend, “Jumanji” is estimated to take $10.9 million, reclaiming the top spot from Fox’s  “Maze Runner: The Death Cure,” which is projected to drop 59 percent from its $29.5 million opening for a $9.8 million second weekend. For “Death Cure,” that is the highest second weekend drop of any film in the “Maze Runner” trilogy, compared to 52 percent for “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” in September 2015.
