New comments by “The Good Wife” stars Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi have added fuel to longstanding rumors of a feud between the actresses on the popular CBS drama.
In the season six finale, Panjabi’s last episode with the series, their characters shared a reunion at the end of the episode. However, the two were never on set together — the show’s producers used a split screen to make it appear as though they were.
Margulies addressed the rumored feud during a panel at the New Yorker Festival on Sunday, insisting that no such feud existed. “It was shot the way Robert [King] wanted to shoot it, and the story line, too,” she said, according to Vulture. “You also have to remember, there’s difficulty … [Panjabi] was also doing another show, called ‘The Fall.’ I went along with whatever Robert asked me to do and I did it happily.”
“It’s a shame, because I wonder if it was two men, when one finds out that he fucked his best friend’s wife, if it would get that same attention, you know what I mean?” she continued, presumably invoking a similar subplot involving their characters.
While that seems like a perfectly reasonable explanation, Panjabi took to Twitter to dispute Margulies’ claim. “‘The Fall’ was not even in production at that time and I was in New York ready to film the scene!” she tweeted.
The actresses had not appeared in a scene together on the show in roughly two years before last season’s finale.
Representatives for Margulies, Panjabi, and CBS did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
