Josh Gad Explores New York City in Esquire’s ‘The Getaway’ (Exclusive Video)

The “Thanks for Sharing” actor hits the Big Apple in Esquire Network’s new original travel series

Josh Gad‘s version of the true New York City involves Central Park carriage rides,  three-pound pastrami sandwiches, and fedoras. That (and much more) is what you’ll see the actor doing on Wednesday’s episode of Esquire Network’s “The Getaway.”

In an exclusive new TV spot for Gad’s upcoming episode, the actor — fresh off a stint on Broadway as Elder Arnold Cunningham in “Book of Mormon” — is shown dancing and playing bingo with some of New York’s more interesting late-night characters.

“I’m sure I went straight back to my hotel. I’m absolutely positive I didn’t go to something called ‘Bitchy Bingo’ at a drag club called Lips. Nope, didn’t happen,” says Gad very seriously.

“Anyone can be a tourist, but experiencing a city like a local takes a great guide,” promises a teaser clip on Esquire Network.

For the newly rebranded network, these ‘great guides’ are celebrity hosts ranging from Aziz Ansari showing off Hong Kong to rapper Eve sampling her way through Kingston, Jamaica. The show recently announced new guest hosts Josh Gad (New York City), Seth and Josh Meyers (Amsterdam), Rashida Jones (London), and Paul Feig (Boston).

Executive-produced by eccentric world traveler Anthony Bourdain, in conjunction with Zero Point Zero Productions, Esquire Network’s original series “The Getaway” promises to show audiences a new side of the world’s greatest cities.

Each episode of the travel show features a different celebrity guest — mostly comedians and actors, which ensures that each episode will have a different feel — touring through their favorite vacation spots for the benefit of the audience.
