Joseph Gordon-Levitt Can’t Stand ‘Pretty Woman’ Rom-Coms in New ‘Don Jon’ Trailer (Video)

The actor plays a New Jersey ladies man who's addicted to pornography

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut, "Don Jon," is all about movies — mainly, the X-rated kind.

A new trailer for the Sept. 27 Relativity Media release contrasts Gordon-Levitt's love for porn with his girlfriend's love for romantic comedies — which he just can't stand.

"I don't watch too many movies. The pretty woman, the first kiss, the break up, the make up," Gordon-Levitt's "Jersey Shore"-esque character complains. "Everyone knows it's fake, but they watch it like it's real life."

The central problem in the Sundance hit appears to be that his girl, played by Scarlett Johansson, can't stand the movies he does like when she discovers him liking them a little too much in his living room while she's sleeping over.

However "Don Jon" sorts out his relationship problems, the trailer suggests it won't be as predictable and formulaic as the very kinds of romantic comedies Gordon-Levitt is complaining about.

Julianne Moore, Tony Danza, Brie Larson and Glenne Headly co-star in the comedy.
