Jon Stewart lived up to his recent threats and dared to step into the wrestling ring to face WWE superstar Seth Rollins on Monday.
“The Daily Show” host got embroiled in a feud with professional wrestler last week when Rollins taunted him about his signature Comedy Central Show, saying he could take it over and “make that thing actually watchable.”
The standoff landed Stewart on “Monday Night Raw,” where Rollins acted out a faux “Daily Show,” telling the audience: “Let’s start with our first topic of the evening, ‘Where is Jon Stewart?’
“He obviously decided not to show up tonight, just as all of America decided not to show up to the movie he directed last year,” Rollins said, delivering a low blow to Stewart’s film, “Rosewater.”
“It’s hard to do a phony news show with your jaw wired shut,” he threatened.
Cue Stewart, who then boldly strutted onto the stage. “Once again, Seth Rollins hosting the ‘Daily Show’ — given something he did not earn,” he said.
“How could I make a fool out of a man dressed as a SWAT team stripper with Lady Gaga‘s hair?” he asked the screaming crowd. “You may be stronger than me, you may be better looking than me, you may be taller than me, you may be able to lift your arm above your shoulders … but let me tell you this, I have something you will never have and that’s respect.”
The satirical comedian’s mouth got the better of him, however, and he was soon backed into a corner by Rollins and his burly entourage — before delivering a low blow of his own.
