Lionsgate’s “John Wick: Chapter 4” will be released in China on March 14, a full two years after its initial release in theaters worldwide.
The 2023 action sequel from Thunder Road Films and 87Eleven Entertainment is a potential final chapter for the story of John Wick, who has been played by Keanu Reeves since the series launched in 2014. What was initially a story about a retired assassin driven back into a violent world by the murder of a dog given to him by his deceased wife has spiraled out into a blood-soaked odyssey into the underground world of assassins known as the Continental.
In “Chapter 4,” Wick finds himself still being hunted by The High Table, the secretive order that governs the Continental and sets the rules for assassins around the world.
With the help of his lone ally Winston (Ian McShane), Wick goes on a globe-trotting quest to secure a one-on-one duel that could lift the bounty placed on him by the High Table. But to do it, he must avoid the waves of hunters sent by one of the High Table’s members, including one of his closest friends, Caine (Donnie Yen).
“John Wick: Chapter 4” was the highest grossing film of the series and still stands as Lionsgate’s highest grossing film since 2016 with $187 million domestic and $440 million worldwide. Huahua Media will handle distribution in China.
A spinoff film set before the events of “Chapter 4” titled “Ballerina,” which stars Ana De Armas and features Reeves in a cameo, will be released June 6.
