John Stamos faces a possible six months in jail following his arrest for a DUI in June in Beverly Hills, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.
The star of Fox’s new sitcom “Grandfathered” was arrested on June 12 in Beverly Hills after it was reported that he was acting strangely and driving erratically.
Police located the car and found Stamos at the wheel, appearing to need immediate medical attention. After doctors confirmed his intoxication, Stamos was booked on the spot and released into doctor’s care.
He faces one misdemeanor count of driving while under the influence of drugs. Arraignment for Stamos is scheduled for Oct. 16.On misdemeanor cases, an attorney can appear on behalf of the defendant without the defendant being present.
Stamos said in a recent interview that the arrest was a “turning point” following a rough year, which included the death of his mother. “You either continue on that path-and some of it’s fun, but a lot of it’s not-or there’s this other thing, this golden opportunity sitting there with all this work and all this goodwill that you have going for you,” he said. “That’s the key.”
Stamos currently stars in Fox’s comedy “Grandfathered,” and is prepping the highly anticipated reboot of “Full House’ for Netflix.
Stamos is an executive producer on the revival of the ’90s family sitcom, which will see most of its original cast make return appearances, including Bob Saget, Lori Loughlin, Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure and Andrea Barber. Actors Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will not return.
