John Hawkes, Michael Cera Cast in Charlie Kaufman’s FX Series, ‘How & Why’

TCA 2014: Series marks Kaufman’s return to TV

John Hawkes and Michael Cera have been cast in Charlie Kaufman’s upcoming FX series, “How & Why.”

The upcoming series marks the “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” writer’s return to TV after working on shows like “Ned & Stacey” and “The Dana Carvey Show.”

Hawkes, an Oscar nominee for “Winter’s Bone,” will play a TV host who has lost his way. He also had a recurring role on HBO’s “Eastbound & Down.”

Cera, who will play his boss, rose to stardom on “Arrested Development” before going on to films like “Juno” and “Superbad.” His recent TV work has included “Childrens Hospital” and “Drunk History.”

The announcement came at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
