John Cena hasn’t formally been offered a co-hosting spot on “Live with Kelly” — but he would definitely be up for it.
“I would love to do it,” he told TMZ. “I love working with the ‘Today’ show crew — anytime they have me on … they make me feel like a family, they make me feel like home.”
He added, “If they call, I’ll answer the phone, but I’m not going to sit by the phone.”
Kelly Ripa has been flying solo since the departure of Michael Strahan for “Good Morning America” in May. Over that time, she’s been joined by a rotating stable of more than 30 guest co-hosts, including John Leguizamo, Jimmy Kimmel and “Empire” star Jussie Smollett, as she and producers try to land on a permanent replacement.
On Oct. 10, Zachary Quinto will co-host the show, with Tyler Perry and Anderson Cooper stepping in the following days.
“I’ve made a fortunate path for myself just by taking advantage of every opportunity,” Cena added. “If they give me a chance, I’ll do the best I can.”
“Live With Kelly” is distributed in national syndication by Disney-ABC Home Entertainment and TV Distribution. The show is produced by WABC-TV in New York and executive produced by Michael Gelman.
